Jagjeet is a young adult from Punjab whom we met at the beginning of the first performance. He didn't speak English or Portuguese, but he always stayed with us after rehearsals. We would sit together on the sidewalk at night, exchanging the few words that were common to all: "Hello," "Ok," "beer." We would take Jagjeet home, and in the car, he would connect his phone to the speakers, and we would listen to Bangra and Punjab hip hop through the dark night of São Teotónio. He invited us to his home, tied and untied his turban to teach us, brought friends to rehearsals, and the few words we exchanged turned into short sentences. Jagjeet always accompanied us. Even without understanding the language, he wanted to be present, to be part of that energy. In the second year and within the project, Jagjeet found and became friend of a very beautiful young Portuguese woman.
