Joaquim Madaíl

He is the technical director of our cooperative "Lavrar o Mar," and it was he who designed the lighting and supported with all the immense technical logistics for the two performances we created. Without access to electricity in many places where the performance took place in São Teotónio and later in Odemira, Madaíl invented a mobile lighting system that did not require electrical support. With batteries stored in small pouches around the waist and bamboo canes holding a set of powerful LED projectors at one end, he found a lighting system for everything needed. Illuminators, members of our group, moved as the performance progressed through the streets, squares, alleys, gardens, and fields.
