Jasbir and the Sikh Community

The Golden Temple is the most significant building in Sikhism, located in the city of Amritsar. It is now a house dedicated to the celebration of all paths of life and faith. It has four large entrances, each always open, on every side. These entrances symbolize the Sikh belief in equality and the vision that any religion and spirituality will always be welcome in this sacred temple. Jasbir is the leader of the Sikh community in Odemira. In Boavista dos Pinheiros, there is a converted house into a temple where everyone is welcome to pray and eat. Jasbir is the host who welcomes us, saying that BOWING was very important to dignify and communicate Sikh religion and culture in this territory. After several meetings with Madalena during the creation of BOWING BACK, Jasbir agreed to help with the performance and arrange men to demonstrate the religious ritual of the turban tying inside the Church of Mercy. In the end, in a ceremony with great solemnity, the Sikh community presented a golden frame to the project as a token of gratitude for the attention and importance given to their religion."
