Crossing LandsBack

‘Crossing Lands’ is a band drawn from several continents. Two Portuguese musicians came together, Pedro Salvador and Alexandre Moniz, with Rajendra Shiwakoti, who plays both percussion and flutes from the mountains of Nepal and a fourth musician, Inderjeet Singh, who plays tablas and teaches traditional Indian singing. Thus began a band that crosses East and West, a fusion between pop-rock and traditional sounds of India and Nepal. The result was seven compositions. The sound emerged through listening, exchange and metamorphosis between melodies, rhythms and voices from very dispersed geographical points of the globe, yet converging through empathy. So far, Crossing Lands has given three concerts in the Odemira region.

In BOWING BACK, Yaw Tembe’s band, Chão Maior, and Pedro Salvador, Lian Givon, Inderjeet Singh and Rajendra Shiwakoti created the songs for the performance. It was clear that we should develop a project around the talent, dedication and musical knowledge of Inderjeet Singh. BOWING DOC is developing the integration of Asian musicians into an artistic practice of contact with other Portuguese musicians, with the aim that these initiatives gain autonomy and sustainability beyond the project.
