Map of Solos

Between August and December 2022, Matilde met with 11 migrants and asked them to tell her stories from their lives related to specific places in the Alentejo region. Each story belonged to a place and a person. The narratives were then transformed artistically: Matilde travelled with each participant to where each story had taken place, and there, together, they created a performance piece in the form of a video. We often work with large groups, but this objective called for a focus on each person with individual time and attention for delving into their history and personality. The Map of Solos (‘Solo’ is a word that in Portuguese means both “soils” and “individual performance”) can be visited through the icon on the right.
